I suppose the next interesting thing coming up soon is No Brand Con, which in all likelyhood I won't be going to. On the other hand, I'll probably be using the money saved for the con to get some new DVDs myself & a new speaker system to go into the loft. I'll probably pick up the fancy Logitech speakers, they have good sound quality, price, and will work well with what we're using them for. The only dowside to that is, while they'll be great for movies and computer gaming, i'm not too big on console gaming. Somebody else is going to have to buy the PS3 for now. Also, a certain somebody needs to get off their butt and get the hdmi cable or whatever they need to get the xbox360 to output some HD...
Looking forward to Ubuntu 9.04. 8.10 was sort of a wash for me, KDE 4 was rather disapointing. I didn't like it, at all. My kubuntu boxes were rapidly turned into XFCE desktops instead. I'm still not a big fan of compiz like desktop effects, I'd rather have my computer spending it's horsepower on games, or more practical pursuits than wobbly windows. The changes to the kicker in KDE 4 were agrivating. Why does the K menu need to suddenly resemble that of vista's, and why can't i change it back to the older style? The lack of widgets for the kicker was really the final straw for me. I need my weather widget, system monitor, and knetstats, at least. Maybe they'll do better in 4.2. I appreciate the efforts they put in, but sometimes the changes seem wholely unneeded. enough rant for now.
